i don’t like to get too longwinded with these things because i don’t want your eyes to glaze over so i’ll be brief: i’m gay and i live in south carolina. i have lived in south carolina my whole life. i am a writer attempting to work through the process of writing her first novel. in an attempt to start my new life and career in new york, i applied to five grad schools. i was rejected from all of them. unfortunately, i’ve had to move back into my parents home. my parents are kind people but are unwilling to support my move and they do not support my sexuality. i have come out to my mother twice and she has ignored me, as ridiculous as that sounds.
i want to make this move and i have been attempting for almost a year now. i am currently commuting the ten hour drive between my parents home and new york to go on job interviews. i have $2k in savings but this is not enough to make the move.
if you were to donate, you would help give me a stable live surrounded by my friends that i have made there and give me a real shot at starting a better life for myself.
on my page, i have included samples of my published and unpublished fiction if you want to read what i have previous written. my longer fiction piece will be a work through three narrators exploring art, the performance of sex and sexual pleasure and the limits of the universe.
artist’s statement: my writing is a form of transgressional performance literary art, in that my life and experiences aim to be a blank canvas in which to enact art, whether by me or through me. art is the understanding and transcribing of the universe in all its parts. It is the interpretation of the human experience.
i love my identity, i love new york, i love writing and creating art that can inspire and help people. and i love my friends. to donate would mean you could change my life and i do mean that.
note: my sexuality is left out of the gofundme profile because my parents will not share this with their friends/our family if it was mentioned, in case there is some confusion as to why it is not mentioned
